2008 WUMA Highlights

Uptown Gift Card launch.

Uptown Westerville Farmers’ Market has increased attendance. web page, blog, and featured 26 total market vendors throughout the season.

▪ Successful Midnight Madness, with increased merchant participation and, through Gallery 202, Midnight Madness banners decorated by Uptown Merchants.

▪ Increased communication among merchants for safety, scam, and security concerns.

Otterbein Uptown! Pennant Weekends established for commencement/alumni weekend, move-in weekend, and homecoming weekend.

▪ WUMA provides Uptown/member maps to Otterbein College for orientation.

WUMA blog ranked in top 20% by technorati.com.

▪ Increase in WUMA membership and meeting attendance.

▪ Westerville named No. 5 on Money Magazine’s Most Affordable American Cities to Live In crediting the charm of Uptown Westerville and the weekly Farmers’ Market.

2007 WUMA Highlights:

 

▪ Groundwork to establish a WUMA Gift Card program.
▪ WUMA website & blog. 
▪ City of Westerville begins to install Uptown Gateway signage.
 ▪ WUMA member, Bill Morgan of Morgan’s Treasure, the City of Westerville, and W. Main Street merchants work together to install the “Shops on W. Main” signage at W. Main and N. State.
▪ Record attendance & merchant participation and perfect weather for Midnight Madness.
 ▪ Increase in participating vendors and seasonal market selection for the Uptown Westerville Farmers’ Market.
▪ Westerville ranked No. 48 on Money Magazine’s Best Places to Live list.
▪ Increased police presence and involvement focusing on Uptown Westerville through Officers Mike Beekman and Carrie Ryan.  Uptown Merchant/Citizen e-mail chain for information from WPD established by Officer Carrie Ryan.
 ▪ Growth in WUMA Membership.
 ▪ WUMA Co-op advertising test completed.
▪  Milestone anniversaries for Suite 59 Hair Design (25), Amish Originals Furniture Co. (15), Captivating Canines (10) and The Old Bag of Nails Pub, A Gal Named Cinda Lou, and Morgan’s Treasure - all one year.
Uptown Signage guidelines revised with input from Uptown merchants.
▪ WUMA added to e-mail notification list for Uptown Review Board meetings and agendas.
 ▪ Crime Prevention Education from WPD.

2006 WUMA Highlights:

▪ Member logo decals.
▪ A revitalized, expanded Farmers’ Market.
▪ Record-setting merchant participation in Midnight Madness and Home for the Holidays.
▪ Pre-pay Co-op advertising program tested.
▪ Partnerships with WVCB and Westerville Parks and Rec for Uptown Events.
▪ Growth in WUMA membership.
▪ Uptown parking expanded, defined, and enforced.
▪ WUMA meeting 10-minute business spotlight.
▪ Dialogue with the City of Westerville about current and future Uptown signage.
